Community Call Summary - March 26th 2026

Thought I'd put out a summary of the Kroxylicious Community Call March 26th 2026

We discussed two meaty topics.

1. Design Process Changes

We decided to require all public API (CRD changes, proxy configuration, FIlter APIs etc) to have a design proposal created in the design repository (https://github.com/kroxylicious/design). We will make changes to our contribution guide to have this recorded, and look for ways to direct Users to this.

The main benefit we see is to help Contributors and anyone else who is interested follow and engage with public-facing changes, without having to consume the full fire-hose of PRs, Issues and other discussions.

2. AI Planning

We have multiple developments going on currently. We are working on an AI Contribution Policy (https://github.com/kroxylicious/.github/pull/27) and there are a couple of investigations on-going into AI agents, and what kind of context would be useful for them (and humans!). Things have gotten a little tangled so we discussed what the next steps are.

We agreed we need to get the Policy merged first, that will codify that we require humans in the loop and how to mark AI generated contributions, with the agent-oriented parts of that PR removed. Then the intention is to experiment with agent configuration before we add any more policy, to keep it minimal until we've learned more.
