Hi all,
I'm using krome with ramses, and now I would like to do photoionisation also.
For now, I'm pushing the flux to krome but they are not update by krome, the absorbtion step is done in ramses. The pb with this technique is that it is very slow and I need to iterate and do a looot of call to krome so that the fluxes do not vary by too much.

I'm investigating to do the absorbtion step in KROME. Do  some of you have done that ?

We should add the photons bin as a variables and write a jacobian with the fluxes variables and write functions for the photorates so that they are directly in the jacobian.

Thanks a lot
Romain

Please consider that the time scale for ionisation at the ionisation front can be very short. Therefore a short-characteristics scheme like the one used in C2Ray coupled with an implicit solver is the most useful. Once the expansion of the ionisation front is driven by pressure and not the photon flux, the time scale becomes more reasonable, but it will still require an implicit solver in the cell(s) where the front is.

I think that was the rationale for letting the fluid dynamics framework code (Ramses) handle the hydro and let Krome do the (photo-)chemistry.

Best
