When most people look at a fancy building they rarely consider the depth or type of foundation supporting the building. Think of the Freedom Tower In NYC. The glory of the building is in the foundation because it is what supports the building and stops it from collapsing upon itself. Celine Roque (2018) echos this building analogy when she writes that "target audience definition will be the foundation of your marketing efforts and, possibly, your entire business." Just as we would not attempt to construct a building without first installing a foundation - it is important to define a target audience upon which Krisirie can build a business. Furthermore we are given the tool set to start creating a profile through the use of demographics, geographics and psychographics

"Identifying and finding your target audience can help set your business off on the right path."

This is a major key for me, I think as an artist and anyone trying to sell a "product" you need to understand who you are trying to get your product to. Why would this person purchase your product? what makes your product better then the next persons? what is it about your product that is attracting a certain type of person? What do you guys think?

This sentence threw me off a little bit "It might not seem important to spend time identifying your target audience, especially if you’re excited to start selling your products and services."  I think its very important to understand your target audience. Why and who are you making this product for? Shouldn't this be the first thought? This article mentions a couple times how business owners are not thinking about these things, maybe its just me but these would be my first thoughts before anything.

This article does give a good breakdown on ways to sell a product & cross over into different markets.

"Remember: When you start acting on your marketing plans, your target audience might change" - This is very true. You might be aiming for a certain audience and midway realize that your "product" does not have to be for a "specific" person and can reach multiple people. A good product will sell no matter what.

- Will add more notes about this article.

Val,

The author notes the following points -  how do you think these points relate to Krisirie?

As a result of identifying and getting to know your target customer, you’ll know the following:

  • The products and services you’ll offer
  • What price points to set for your products and services
  • The type of marketing materials you’ll need (a website, flyers, posters, radio ads, blog posts, etc.)
  • The benefits and features you’ll highlight in your marketing materials
  • The exact key words you’ll use in your marketing copy
  • The design of your marketing materials
  • Where you’ll send or display your marketing materials
  • Where you'll advertise
