Job Summary
As a Senior Engineer in our Global Technology Solutions organization, you will design, develop, and enhance scalable data and integration platforms supporting Global Merchandise Technology. You will contribute to key initiatives such as Merchandise Financial Planning, Assortment Planning, Allocation, and Replenishment within a product-driven delivery model.
This role requires strong hands-on expertise in distributed data processing (Scala, Spark), real-time streaming (Kafka), and enterprise data systems, along with experience in backend and full-stack technologies (Java/Spring Boot, NodeJS, Angular). You will also play a key role in modernization efforts, including supporting migrations from legacy integration platforms (e.g., Talend, Common Product).
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Development
- Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Scala and Apache Spark.
- Build and support real-time data streaming solutions using Kafka.
- Develop and optimize SQL-based data solutions, including working with DB2.
- Build microservices and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) and NodeJS.
- Contribute to frontend integration efforts using Angular and JavaScript.
Integration & Modernization
- Support migration of legacy integration platforms (e.g., Talend) to modern architectures.
- Implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integration patterns across systems.
- Contribute to modernization of merchandising and data platforms.
Delivery & Quality
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and solutions.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code aligned with best practices.
- Perform code reviews, testing, and performance tuning.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues across data pipelines and applications.
Collaboration & Influence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, business, and architecture.
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to junior engineers.
- Contribute to design discussions and help drive technical decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering and data platform development.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Scala and Apache Spark
- Apache Kafka
- SQL and DB2
- Experience with application development:
- Java (Spring Boot)
- NodeJS
- Experience with frontend technologies:
- JavaScript and Angular
- Familiarity with:
- Microservices architecture and REST APIs
- Data integration and ETL tools (Talend preferred)
- CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control
- Cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data platform or integration modernization initiatives.
- Understanding of event-driven architecture.
- Exposure to retail or merchandising systems.
- Experience working with high-volume data processing systems.
