The most auspicious month of Damodara or Kartik begins from Thursday, Oct  5th  and will continue until Friday, Nov 3rd, 2017.

The month of Damodara or Kartik is extremely special to Lord Krishna. This is His favorite month, because it is the month of Srimati Radharani, His eternal consort. She is Kartika Devi, who transforms the hearts of all with divine love, and is especially merciful during the month of Kartik ( Damodara month). 
 
It is said in the Padma Purana that the effect of performing a Kartik Vrata or Damodara Puja lasts for one hundred lifetimes. The pastime of mother Yashoda binding Lord Krishna took place during this month, and as a consequence, Lord Krishna was named Damodara, He who can only be bound by the ropes of Love. To commemorate this pastime, the Sri Damodarastaka prayer, a song from the Padma Purana, is sung daily in devotees homes and at temple on Sundays. It is highly auspicious to recite this song and offer lamps to Lord Krishna at temple or home to welcome the Lord and His blessings with open arms. 
 
During this month, everyone will offer a lamp at Krishna Village and several homes. Please join with family and friends and offer a lamp to Lord Krishna with love and devotion, 

BLESSINGS IN A LAMP - GET INVOLVED
At the temple 
Temple open everyday. Please join with family daily and offer the lamp to Lord Damodara (Krishna) in this month. Also, devotees will congregate on Sundays, the program will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. for next four Sundays, at which time we will do the offering of the lamps as we perform the Damodarastaka prayers. 

Days: Sundays, Oct 8th, Oct 15rd, Oct 22nd, Oct 29th
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m

Place: Krishna Village
10:30 am: Prayers to Tulasi Plant
11:00 am: Kirtan Yajna
11:30 am: Glories of Kartik month (Vrat)
12:30 pm: Arati, Damodarastakam prayer and offering lamps
1:30 pm: Lunch feast (Mahaprasadam) for everyone

* One can offer charities to serve and build Lord's temple on this auspicious month
* Please refrain from eating udad dal this month.  
* Practice Celebacy. Also refrain from meat and egg products
* Chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra
