New Semester, New Name, Same Great Taste

Hey everybody,

Just wanted to send out a long overdue update on Krishna Cooperative for this fall.


First, we have a new name. We are now Food For Life Experience (FFLX). Why? Mostly because we got a lot of feedback from people this summer that the Krishna Cooperative name gave many people the impression that we were some kind of fanatical religious group. This in turn created fear in many peoples minds. Not at all our purpose or intention. So in order to avoid this counterproductive scenario, we have removed all things which may give the false impression of fanatical religiosity. Hence the new name. But our mission remains the same. We are here to help create a community of responsible earth citizens, people who genuinely care for the world, the people in it, its environment, and also themselves. Service, Community, Sustainability, Culture.

To that end we have many exciting new projects for the fall. Many of you have probably heard about the new Pitt Yoga Club. There are yoga classes 4 nights a week. John has done a tremendous job of taking up the lead on this project and it has thus far been very successful.  Email yoga...@gmail.com if you want more info about these classes.

We are also working with one of the vending trucks on Bigelow to provide healthy, tasty, and eco friendly food on weeknights and weekends. We call it "Seva" (means service in Hindi) The idea is to provide students with affordable and accessible eco and health friendly food. See more info here: http://fflx.org/?page_id=53

We will also be doing our traditional Friday night kirtans. Every Friday at 7:30 at FFLX (formerly Krishna Cooperative-4610 Winthrop St, Rear Entrance) The first one is tonight!

We are still doing simple lunch as well. Weekdays from 11:30am -1:15pm.
