Ohhh this is so super helpful thank you so much. I have bought the book and will await its delivery! I love actually having a book instead of Trying to juggle looking up things online at the same time as using the program so this is fabulous. Thank you again. Fingers crossed I pick it up reasonably quickly!

My Rhino 7.0 for Jewelry books just came out. You can get them at amazon.com but you need to search with the words Rhino 7.0 for Jewelry + Dana Buscaglia. The books are so new that you need to include my name in the search.
I made a Volume I that introduces Rhino 7.0 and covers basic tutorials on the Rhino workspace as well as creating designs and technical drawings - all 2-dimensional commands. Basic commands that you will need in 3-D.
Rhino 7.0 for Jewelry Volume II is all about 3-dimensional design and modeling.
You can get easy links to purchasing the books by going to my website: www.rhinoforjewelry.com
Cheers,
Dana
I am doing some designs for jewelry products and I have not been able to get a decent rendering out of vanilla rhino, is it possible to get a good rendering out of just rhino? What other programs are recommended? I have looked at a few, but they seem to be pricey. Any information or input would be appreciated.
-Daniel
Both developers have done a lot of work to make it relatively easy to assign appropriate materials and place then in nicely lighted scene.
My point is getting the renderings looking good using Brazil or Vray on your own will not be a trivial task.
Food4Rhino has quite a few Jewelry specific plugins - RhinoRing is a plugin for Rhino which is free for users with an Educational license. (Caveat - this is a bit of self-promotion as I wrote the plugin - with a lot of help from this forum ) There is also a range of Neon materials included and a studio scene to quickly render with.
I will certainly check that out. Also I was not aware of this food4rhino website, good to know. Do you suggest going to search and typing in jewelry to find the plugins you are talking about? Which plugins do you find most useful designing jewelry?

I use Matrix 9 from gemvision. now a stuller product. I also own Rhino Gold also now bought by Stuller. these 2 programs allow you to do many styles of jewelry. in matrix there is no limits as is Rhino with Jewelry plugins. any Rhino plugin also works.
I would be happy to give you an online demonstration of 3DESIGN CAD. This is designed with true parametric history with the aim of making your life as a CAD designer less frustrating than any other product. Regardless of what product you buy you should see a demo of several to be an informed consumer.
I am interested to know the 3D software that is compatible with Form2 3D printer. Matrix, Rhino Gold, MOI and 3Design etc. I am looking for the 3d jewellery software which is cost effective and easy to learn. Thanks
I'm new to fusion360 because I came from solidworks and rhino. Solidworks helped me in amazing sheet metal and rhino helped me in awesome pieces of jewelry... I found in rhino and fusion very similar commands (some with same name) and in solidworks and fusion I found other similar features. I think I can combine them in one only fusion360 instead of two... and now that is possible to import parts and convert them to sheet metal, I think it's great!
But... do you think its possible to SCULPT jewelry pieces directly without image references, without previous drawings ect? Like an artist using clay, not using sweeps, lofts, extrusions, bridge, and so on. Just starting from a thorus, or a box or a clylinder to scuplt, growing an idea you have in your mind.
I've understood that I have to start from the elements and not from a global unique object, so I made the two "drops" after positioning the stone... Ok, but after this, how to "bridge" or "combine" (not the combine command) in a "plastic" organic way the "drops" and the ring body? By the way, the ring body inner diameter should be 17mm and 2,5mm thick.
Once a thing done, how can i duplicate (move rotate) but keep the editing on one object will be reflected on the other one? In the ring, the two blobs... if I edit one blob, the other remains un-edited.
1. Move into the patch workspace and use Create->boundary fill. You should select all three bodies, the two open surfaces and the solid. That should present you with three cells to select. Then afterwards you have one solid body.
A variety of gem tools are available to create settings for any stone: Heads, Bezels, Claws, Halos, Under Bezels, Calottes, micro clusters, etc. With Panther you can rely on precision stone setting without compromising your design needs. Let your designs roar!
The most advanced Pave tool supports surfaces & Mesh objects for gems placement. Each step of the design is saved, enabling you to make any further adjustments and updating all the steps saved in real time. This is a huge time saving creating or changing your designs.
The Jali tool in Panther allows you to decorate your designs by creating 3D patterns from a library of styles which you can easily add to. Apply patterns on any surface, and if you change the pattern or surface & it updates dynamically.
Patterns are the fastest way to create high volume jewelry parts with a small amount of metal. Either using patterns from the library or adding your own ones, there are several controls to adjust them on your designs.
Panther is built on top of Rhino 6.0 & Grasshopper. Each step of the design is saved, and you are able to make adjustments in real time. Using Panther, Boolean operations are completely editable at any stage of your design. This is a huge time saver when changing designs.
The Cycles rendering integration in Panther is via a Raytraced Display Mode, and is optimized for Jewelry. Rendering is available through both CPU & your graphics card, which ensures the best performance from your machine . Welcome to real time rendering!
All of the Panther tools are available as Grasshopper plugins for Rhino 6, so you can extend the functionality of your designs by creating custom Grasshopper definitions. Now you can create your own custom designs using Panther tools integrated with Grasshopper.

Your choice of jewelry design software should resonate with your specific design aspirations, skill level, and the nature of your projects. Whether you're crafting intricate bespoke pieces or more straightforward designs, selecting software that complements your creative process is key to your success.
Rhino is the most versatile of all 3D modelers, designed for broad 3D applications and professionals: architects & engineers, marine designers, landscape designers, educators, and, of course, jewelers.
While it does not include specialized features for jewelry design, Rhino supports a wide array of industry-specific plugins, including those tailored for jewelry design, enhancing its functionality.
Rhino is best suited for professionals in fields like engineering, architecture, and design, offering extensive 3D modeling tools and compatibility with jewelry plugins. It's particularly valuable for those who appreciate its precision and plan to apply their skills across various industries.
Optimal for professional jewelers and large enterprises who need a dedicated tool with advanced capabilities and are not concerned about the upfront cost, knowing they can quickly recoup the investment.
This price includes: All 5.x upgrades, Dual User Interface (Rhino Legacy Interface or RhinoArtisan Simplified Interface), Cloud License, Offline Access, Full digital Academy access and Premium Technical Support.
RhinoArtisan lacks ERP and project management features. It doesn't integrate business processes like inventory or accounting and lacks tools for tracking project progress, allocating tasks, or managing team workflows.
RhinoGold & Matrix are no longer on the market, so pricing information is not relevant. For those who already own these products, it's essential to consider the long-term implications of their discontinuation.
RhinoGold and Matrix's user interface became outdated, and the significant changes over the years mean that older tutorials and versions don't align with the latest versions of these tools, making self-learning challenging.
Consider your design needs, project scale, and budget when selecting jewelry design software, ensuring it not only meets your current technical requirements but also supports your future creative vision, enhancing your design workflow and productivity in the jewelry design field.
Hurricks,
Because I am very new to Zbrush
I need to read on remeshing in zbrush and on decimation.
However, what are the" highest detail setting"?
I have got Export options :Poly mesh,Windows,As Obj objects,Do not exportlayer/group names,Unmodifed,Export mesh texture coordinates and Wrap lonlines. Are these are the Options I can use?
Select the remesh button as shown in screen shot. You may need to adjust the Res slider. I tend to keep it to the default then ctrl + D the newly created mesh a couple of time to increase mesh density.
Hurricks,
Something is happening.
I was able to almost blindly repeat your instructions and export Skin file to Rhino.
But not much understanding of what I am doing.
I only managed to read up on re meshing.
Just to double check if I am using correct Export and Import Options.
Could you confirm these.
