Inventory Object Upgrade (alpha)

Hello kpt-users,

The newest version of kpt is now available here:

This release allows users to opt-in to experiment with an upgraded inventory object. The current inventory object for applied resources in the cluster using kpt live apply is a ConfigMap. In the near future, we are going to upgrade this object to a custom resource called ResourceGroup. This inventory object is usually transparent, but with the newest version of kpt, we are allowing users to opt-in (using an environment variable) to experiment with this new inventory object before we make it the default. Users can also experiment with migration of existing cluster inventory objects from ConfigMap to the ResourceGroup custom resource. The instructions are here:
