I'm trying to set up a dual boot on my laptop. I'm primarily an Ubuntu
user, but I'd like to have some windows functionality for iTunes and
games. I've been using Ubuntu exclusively for a year and am just now
trying to put XP back on.

I've succeeded with the dual boot setup. I can choose which operating
system I want to boot and the computer does it. Ubuntu runs just as it
used to, but the XP is apparently missing some things. I installed my
game, but when I tried to play it I got this message.

"Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0 or higher installed. Also verify
that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not
have hardware acceleration disabled in the Display control panel."

I installed Divx, but apparently I have to reinstall all of the
audio/video drivers on the XP partition. I don't know if support for XP
is still offered, so I'm worried. I know this is a linux users list, and
I would normally come here for Ubuntu problems, but I thought at least
one person on this list would also be able to give me some answers.

My machine is a Dell Precision M90, dual-core 1.66GHz processor, and a
Quadro FX series graphics card.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks

First did you do all the windows XP updates? If you go to Dell's support website (support.dell.com) they have all the drivers for the M90 for Windows XP. XP support won't go away anytime soon. Get the latest video and audio drivers from there. Then go to google and search for directx. The first link should take you to download directx 10. Install that and you should be set.
