Replies to the issues raised in the powerpoint:
1. Installation is simple - download file, unzip into 'extensions' folder, and add that require_once line into your LocalSettings.php file.
2. 'Unspecified' usually means 'doesn't matter which version you use, it is always there'. Usually 'unspecified' version bugs are fixed in svn trunk. And for 'solved' bugs - usually the last comment or so in the bug will mention the particular revision in which it was fixed, so you can go look at that to see how it was 'solved'.
3. That particular revision has nothing to do with that particular bug. It was just used as a way of stating which version the reporter had. SVN revision numbers are linearly increasing and unique - so if I wanted to verify this bug, I can just 'move back' to that particular revision and reproduce it. Also, you don't see it in your install because you just have the core mediawiki software, but wikimedia also hosts other tools that are essential for running wikipedia. You can explore the full repository here:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/viewvc/mediawiki/trunk/5. We'll discuss when I get there.
General Queries:
1. You'll have to submit a patch. I'll walk you people through this when I'm there.
3. a. Search Bugzilla and b. Ask on IRC. People keep an eye on new bugs, and will know if something has already been filed.
4. Asking on IRC is the best bet - some bugs are very low impact and aren't considered worth fixing.
6. We'll discuss on 14th
It is *incredibly awesome* that you guys are taking this much effort to get involved. I showed this to the Volunteer Development Coordinator at Wikimedia Foundation and she was blown away at the enthusiasm you people are showing. Amazing. Looking forward to 14th :)
