Offer subject to change. Receive Netflix Standard with ads while you maintain 1 qualifying Go5G Next, Go5G Plus or Magenta Max line or 2+ Go5G or Magenta lines in good standing. Netflix account, plan availability & compatible device required. Alternative discount toward different Netflix streaming plans may apply. Not redeemable or refundable for cash; cannot be exchanged for Netflix gift subscriptions. Cancel Netflix anytime. Netflix Terms of Use apply: www.netflix.com/termsofuse. 1 offer per T-Mobile account; for existing Netflix members it may take 1-2 bill cycles during which time you will continue to be charged separately for any existing Netflix account. If you link an existing Netflix account to this offer, terminating the qualifying line(s) will not automatically cancel your Netflix membership, and Netflix will automatically resume charging your existing payment method that they have on file. With Netflix Standard with ads you can watch on up to two devices within a household at the same time. You can upgrade to Netflix Premium and watch on up to four devices in the same household at the same time for the discounted rate of $16, through your T-Mobile bill. Visit this page to upgrade now.

Log into My.T-mobile, select Account, and then select Manage add-ons. On the Manage data and add-ons page, add Netflix in the Services section. T-Mobile pays Netflix directly for you. For customers with an existing Netflix account, it may take one or two Netflix billing cycles for your billing to transfer to T-Mobile.

Streaming: Licenses with streaming services prohibit public screenings, even in classroom settings. However, Netflix does make exceptions for a limited number of videos: Educational Screenings of Netflix Documentaries. Amazon Prime and HULU have no such provisions, so streaming any videos from those platforms would violate the terms of the license.

Our student club wants to show a film but it is for educational purposes. There is a plan for discussion about the issues raised in the film after it's shown. Do we still need Public Performance Rights?
It depends. Ordinarily, the showing of a film by a group or club is for entertainment purposes and thus PPR is required. However, if the group's purpose and activities are ordinarily educational nature and the showing of the film is in furtherance of those educational purposes and activities, then it may be fair use to show the film without PPR.

What about a film series hosted by a group or club that is open to and advertised to the public?
The showing of a film as part of a film series is viewed as entertainment even if hosted or sponsored by an educational group or club. No matter how educational the setting or how tied to the curriculum, this is generally considered not to be fair use and PPR must be obtained.

I own the DVD that the club I am a member of wants to show. Do I still need to get PPR?
It doesn't matter where the film you are planning to show comes from -- your own collection, the Library's or the corner video rental shop. The analysis is the same. If an exception under copyright law does not apply (e.g. fair use, face to face teaching), then you must obtain PPR prior to showing the film.

What does "Home Use Only" mean? Does it mean I cannot show this DVD to my class?
Under copyright law, copyright holders have the exclusive right of performing or displaying their copyrighted works, including films or videos. The "Home Use Only" warning at the beginning of most DVDs refers to this exclusive right of performance and display. However, the law also has an exception for performing or displaying works in a face to face teaching situation where the work being performed or displayed is related to the curriculum and only being performed or displayed for students enrolled in a course at a non-profit educational institution (such as UF). Therefore, under this exception, DVDs with the "Home Use Only" warning can be played in a face to face classroom. For online courses, refer to fair use for determining how much of the film can be shown.

May I show clips of films to my students as part of a lecture?
Generally, yes, this is permissible under fair use. Apply the four factors of fair use to determine whether the film in question may be used for this purpose and how much of the film may be shown. New exemptions under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act permit educators to "rip" clips from videos for educational purposes.

The film I want to show is on Netflix. Can I stream this through my Netflix account in the classroom?
Subscription services such as Netflix and Amazon have very detailed membership agreements that may forbid the streaming of subscribed content in a classroom or other public venue. When you agree to the terms of membership, you enter into a contract and the terms of that contract trump any applicable exception in copyright. Therefore, if the membership agreement with Netflix prohibits the showing of the film in a classroom, you are bound by the terms of that agreement even if the face to face teaching exception would otherwise allow it.

I had renewed my sky subscription on the same terms as I had previously - including Netflix. I renewed on the day my contract cancelled. Netflix have put a hold on my account as they are saying I don't have a sky contract. Netflix were asking to a 6 digit code but I can't find this anywhere. Any help very grateful!

Netflix requires a netflix account. Normally a new account is setup from the TV, please use your Sky email. If you already have an account, it will disconnect other TVs that are connected and you will be paying to Sky, not Netflix.

Depending on your plan you can watch Netflix on 1 to 4 devices. Netflix basic has 1 device. If you buy HD from Sky(9 pounds a mont, sometimes free for 2 months with no contract), that makes it Netflix Standard or 2 devices.

Called Virgin Media again, second line support checked with customer services that they have not sent me such an email. I explained if that is the case, then how come Netflix have started charging me and have notification that partner payment has ended - ?

I have exactly the same problem! I received three emails today - one from VM and two from Netflix - stating that Netflix is no longer receiving payment from VM. I have the Ultimate Volt bundle which includes Netflix.

I attempted to follow the instructions posted above to re-activate my Netflix membership through my VM account but the final page keeps coming up with an error message - Sorry, something's gone wrong!
We're having some technical issues so we can't add this right now. Please try again later.

I am having the same nightmare issue with the netflix account - all they keep doing is raising a ticket and not getting anywhere - they also promised to credit my account to cover the cost of netflix until resolved and yes you guessed it - no credit applied and about 3 complaints opened and closed without my permission. I try to go through the activate netflix button and no joy. Do not have VM as an option for the payment method. Can someone please help with this

Hi there,

Thank you for your posts and raising your concerns here on the community forums. We're here to help.

We were aware of a recent issue with Netflix subscriptions which has since been addressed and resolved. If you continue to have issues, please first check for an activation button/link on your My Virgin Media account to see if this helps.

If the issue remains for you, please let us know and we can go from there.

Thanks,

I have activated my Netflix subscription with Virgin but I have been charged 15.99 by Netflix since doing this and there is another upcoming payment from Netflix for 15.99 to be taken out from my account next week.

Usually, Netflix would only charge you directly if you have created another account with them directly, we would advise please contacting Netflix and they should be able to trace what's happened here - please let us know

I renewed my contract at beginning of September and have also now lost Netflix access despite it always being in my package. Netflix tried to bill my old details which no longer exist and put my account on hold. I have since spent the last two weeks talking to Virgin and getting nowhere. I believe I need to be sent an activation email (as my contract doesnt seem to have rolled over, rather it has been terminated and restarted). Any chance this can be done if the problem has been resolved as it is verynfrustrating mot to have access for what is now over 3 weeks! Not the best customer service is it?!
