Hi Lisa,
I called you today, but couldn't
get hold of you.
With regards to the issue of getting hold of those guys,
we have their phones numbers listed on the spreadsheet I sent out. What
I want us to do is agree on the questions the applicants should address in
their one or two page Bio. We still have sometime to work with as the
colleges in Sierra Leone don't reopen until late September or early
October.
We have twenty applicants altogether, so I want five people to
volunteer to call at leat four applicants each and give them the essay
requirements. I have copied and pasted the list belolw.
I will call the
first four on the list

Hello Richard,
After
review, I have no real issues with the set of questions. Maybe with the
exception of #4, unless the approval requirements are whether or not the grant
seeker is interested in helping the District in the future. & the
second half of number five is repetitious.
My main concerns are
-- it is the end of July -- what school term are we aiming for here?
Don¢t the logistics of sending the tuition directly to the school have to be
ironed out? & how is this information being disseminated on the
ground i.e. how are we reaching those seeking grants?
Trust all
is well.

[KONOFOUNDATION1] Tuition Assistance
Hi Fellows,
My
apologies for holding up progress in our Kono students grant program.
I
don't know how many students we will eventually decide to help, but this is
what I want us to do to help us in the selection process.
Based on Mr.
Fanday's suggestion. I want the prospective grant recipients to write a brief
biography about themselves addressing the following salient
points.
1. Where they were born, who the parents are/were, number of
siblings, marital status?
2. What is their argument for consideration
for a grant.?
3. What do they intent to do after
graduation?
4. What is their opinion about the problems plaguing Kono
and what do they think needs to be done to start redressing those
problems?
5. Finally how were they personally affected by the war,
and why are they seeking higher education?
The essay should not
be more than two pages long, composition and grammatical expression will be a
factor.
