MBMB's Kreyol Football Tournament & Picnic is an opportunity to engage
the
local community to take part in a family friendly day. We encourage
young,
male and female and therefore families to get involved. The core of
the day
will be to commemorate the abolition of slavery. The highlight of the
day
will be to celebrate what we have in common which is our 'Kreyol'
culture.
Two minutes of silence will kick start the event as a special Tribute
to
Aime Cesaire.
So far the Teams already formed are:
Martinique (4 places left), Guadeloupe (3 places left), Haiti (full),
West
Africa (2 left), Trinidad (full), Nigeria (4 left), Barbados (5 left),
St
Lucia (3 left)
We are also waiting for entries from Dominica, Mauritius, La Reunion,
Angola, Jamaica, Monserrat and Cape Verde! First come first served!

We as Kono's know what it is like to be forgotten. We have come
through our own desparate times when the fate of our people and our
land was ignored by the international community for years. LET US NOT
ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN TO OTHERS.
Did you know that over 2.5 million people have been driven from their
homes in Darfur, Sudan? Each day, they face threats that are hard for
some to even imagine including rape, disease, and starvation. These
people need our help to put an end to the genocide and they need it
NOW. Please join me in taking the first step to stopping the
violence.
Violence in Sudan is escalating. The Justice and Equality Movement, a
Darfuri rebel group, attacked Khartoum two weeks ago in an attempt to
topple the Sudanese regime. We have received word that the government
is retaliating with atrocities against Darfuri civilians. Reports
indicate that the government is detaining, torturing and killing
Darfuris in and around Khartoum, and that janjaweed militias have
commenced attacks in North Darfur.
The UK holds the presidency of the UN Security Council this month, and
can help bring an end to these new atrocities.
To urge Foreign Secretary David Miliband to immediately use all
diplomatic and economic tools necessary to help end attacks against

New Mind School (Brixton, London) provides full-time independent
Education for children aged 3-11 years.
Applications for pre school and primary aged children for entry
September 2008 are now being taken.
We are opening our doors to parents and carers wishing to learn more

Hi Fellows,
Ms. Fatu Songowa was in Sierra Leone on a personal trip, and I am glad
to report that she is back in one piece. However, during has
exhausting 10 day trip, she was bitten by a bug called "Nostalgia
hominis". It is a very infectious bug, but strangly enough, it use to
infect only a select group of people, but it seems as if the bug is
mutating and increasingly affecting a lot of people these days. The
bug makes people make strange decisions, like wanting to return to
Sierra Leone to help in whatever way they can to make the country a
little better. I hope she can spread that infection to more people out
here.
While she was out there, she was introduced to a guy called Alieu Faud
Bangura. They started talking about the needs of the Kono people, and
Mr. Bangura shared with him the plight of several Kono students that
were in dire need of tuition assistance. Attached is a list of some
of those students. She also brought supporting documents to
authenticate that those guys were already enrolled in college.
I hope we can move quickly to help some of those students in the up
coming academic year.

Ms. Fatu Songowa was in Sierra Leone on a personal trip, and I am glad
to report that she is back in one piece. However, during has
exhausting 10 day trip, she was bitten by a bug called "Nostalgia
hominis". It is a very infectious bug, but strangly enough, it use to
infect only a select group of people, but it seems as if the bug is
mutating and increasingly affecting a lot of people these days. The
bug makes people make strange decisions, like wanting to return to
Sierra Leone to help in whatever way they can to make the country a
little better. I hope she can spread that infection to more people out
here.
While she was out there, she was introduced to a guy called Alieu Faud
Bangura. They started talking about the needs of the Kono people, and
Mr. Bangura shared with him the plight of several Kono students that
were in dire need of tuition assistance. Attached is a list of some
of those students. She also brought supporting documents to
authenticate that those guys were already enrolled in college.
I hope we can move quickly to help some of those students in the up
coming academic year.

I heard Kono USA was trying to regroup a few months ago. What's
happening with the Kono Foundation? If we can't get it together, can I
pursue getting a refund of all the membership fees I paid that was
intended for benefit of Kono's in SL? I don't think it was anyone's
intent to have it sitting in a bank for almost three years. I can
direct the funds to Sierra Leone in other avenues in a more timely
manner myself.
