Konakart executes 1000 queries / second all day long

Hey All,
when I was profiling our database I noticed that Konakart executes
around 1000 queries per second. And that's even when we don't do
anything on the tool.
All queries executes relative short in time but still, 1000 queries
per second is rather large.
Our system runs on glassfish with PostgreSQL as out back-end.
If you have any advive where to look and how to solve this would be
highly appreciated.

That doesn't make any sense to me.
What queries are being executed?
KonaKart does some refreshing of caches but certainly nowhere near to
that number of transactions!
The majority of the time it shouldn't execute any queries at all if
you're not exercising it.
