How to get K

I have kona installed, but I know that K originally came from KXSystems.

They provide a demo of Q, which can run K, but how can I get a standalone version of the official KXSystem K?

As far as I know, you can't.

KXSystems no longer sells K as a standalone product.

Anyone who has a copy of KX's K, cannot legally give (or sell) a copy to someone else.

Just to be clear:

k1 was developed for UBS with a 5 year exclusivity agreement in 1993.

k2 became the primary kx product in 1998 and was generally available.  It included a reference manual and user manual.

k3 had new features, but was largely compatible with k2.  No updated reference manual nor user manual was provided.

kx now markets kdb+ as its primary product. k2 and k3 can no longer be purchased from kx.

k4 is accessible from kdb+, but is significantly different from k2 and k3.

k4 is a proprietary language used by kx ... no documentation manuals are provided for k4.

kx made k extremely expensive now. But kona k has some issue still. Recursive function calling does not seem working.

You can use _f as in

 f:{:[x>1;x*_f@x-1;1]}

  f 3

But agreed this should be fixed.
