Aloha everyone,
Well obviously I am a little behind.
The month started off with a burst of coffee cherry ripening and has
continued non-stop since then!
At the same time the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival opened. We had
parades, art shows, festivals, pageants, dinners, and of course the
cupping!
I thought it would all never end. Well finally all of the other stuff
is done. Fortunately the cherry continues to ripen. This is great
except that I have run out of deck space for drying and now have 6
tarps covering much of the driveway and other open space in order to
dry the overflow. Unless a couple of sections of parchment get dry
today or tomorrow I'm going to have to get more tarps!
We have picked as much so far this month as we did in August,
September, and October combined!
The way it looks right now I expect we'll be picking through at least
the end of December. This of course depends upon the weather. If we
get more sunshine the cherry will likely ripen more quickly. But if we
have more cloudiness and rain then the ripening will be further
delayed.
If there are any good weather forecasters out there please look into
your crystal ball and give me an ACCURATE FORECAST!
Aloha for now and mahalo,
