Rijam,
That was a good one, I have not heard of. Kalatil reminds me of a very faint memory going there with Manichi chechy (Febin's mother) to get Kappa (tapioca) It was beutiful with a small waterfall and we could see many rabbits on the way. I am wondering how the place look like now. Must have changed to a small "rubber forest' by now. Speaking of 'tapioca', one of the Malayalees here haven't heard the humorous origin ("Thappi Nokka, Sayippe" the answer by a local farmer to a British). It is called "Yucca root' in US. I recently saw "chakka" in farmer's market. It is called "Jack fruit" here also. One of my friends said the similar story. One day one Britsh asked what it was to a local farmer. And he replied, "ithanu Chakka, Sayippe"; Chakk fruit then became Jack fruit for Sayippu.
Some other vegetable variations in US...."ladies finger" is called "okra" and Brinjal is called "Egg plant"
Hoping to read more Kollayil stories...
