Every culture is based on common values. We have defined Guidelines for ourselves from these values. But they are not chiseled in for all eternity. In other words, culture is always developing. People shape and change culture. It was therefore a logical step to adapt or renew our previous guiding principles.

Added value of joint teaching, learning and researching: Teaching that is jointly designed and carried out with Chinese partners places high demands on both teaching staff and students. At the same time, jointly developed curricula and study programmes represent an attractive opportunity to enable students at the home university to gain international and intercultural experience and to produce culturally sensitive and broadly educated citizens of the world.
Research is inherently international: it lives and evolves through local, national or global exchange and competition of hypotheses and academic knowledge and findings. This guiding principle applies not merely to research into major global challenges but is inherent in all research questions. German-Chinese cooperation in research thus always takes place in the sphere of tension between cooperation and competition.
In concert with our ongoing Purpose, Asbury Carbons is committed to follow our guiding Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) principles, providing a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and avoiding adverse impact and injury to the environment and the communities in which it does business as our first priority.

The aim of the Recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation is to adopt a common line on policy principles and measures for national, regional and local policy makers to maximize the transformation of research and innovation results into solutions that benefit society.
The guiding principles engage all actors in the research and innovation ecosystem, focus on the connections and co-creation between actors, emphasise entrepreneurial skills and practices and cover the full range of knowledge generated by research and innovation activities.
The Council recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation replace the 2008 Commission recommendation and the Code of practice for universities and other public research organisations.
The guiding principles cover all categories of research and innovation ecosystem actors, such as, universities, higher education institutions, research and technology organisations, citizens, civil society organisations, investors, funders, researchers, innovators, students, industry, SMEs, start-ups, intermediaries (e.g. knowledge and technology transfer professionals), policy makers, public authorities, service providers (e.g. hospitals and public transportation providers), research and technology infrastructures and standardisation bodies.
The guiding principles for knowledge valorisation reflect the diversity of knowledge valorisation channels and tools and address sustainability, social challenges and other sectoral policy priorities.
The guiding principles draw attention to the fact that we need to create value from publicly funded research and need to strengthen this aspect and consider complementary funding, e.g. proof of concept schemes, to ensure that resources are also devoted to knowledge valorisation.
Deutsches Haus is the German Language component of the Language & Culture Program, formerly known as the Modern Language Program. This program is staffed by Graduate Resident Advisors (GRAs) who are accomplished graduate students (and often native German speakers) chosen to promote the goals of language immersion and cultural exposure. Each group meets weekly for meals, chats, media screenings and excursions, consisting of everything from German Pictionary to cooking instruction to opera and dance. This close-knit community has members from all four class years, with some veterans taking on a guiding role; many participants are interested in international business, law, or careers in diplomacy, and often plan to study abroad while at Penn. Both beginners and those with considerable German fluency are welcome; dedicated residents often show great improvement in their speaking skills, and have the option of receiving course credit in German.
Staff and volunteers offer a variety of programs that invite visitors to explore the complex history and legacies of Alcatraz. Special programs, guest authors, and other opportunities are covered in an orientation you will receive at first arrival on the island: There are program boards and boat schedules at the dock and in the cellhouse.
The self-guiding Alcatraz Cellhouse Audio Tour is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Mandarin. Transcripts of these tours, including an English Braille version, are also available. The audio tour is included when you purchase your ferry ticket, and covers the inside of the cellhouse (at the top of the island) during the penitentiary era (1934-1963). To obtain refunds for the audio tour should you not wish to or not be able to utilize it, ask for a supervisor in the cellhouse. Additional exhibits and videos available on the island cover other aspects of Alcatraz's unique history.
