More and more World Wide Web sites are cropping up each day to help travelers plan their trips or check out places they want to visit. Many of them are linked to sites maintained by airlines and travel agencies that allow people to purchase their tickets online. Many are free, but some do charge a fee.

"Logistically, Kentucky has a number of advantages," says Lambert. "We have the river right there in Paducah, so we use the river port for large shipments that go down to New Orleans and are sent internationally. It's also very centrally located amongst our customers. We can be on the East Coast the next day; we can get to the Gulf quickly. We have shipments going to Mexico and Canada. Kentucky is a hub for us because it's central, and the infrastructure is very good - roads, bridges and the river port. When we did our decision matrix, Kentucky came out ahead across the board in terms of workforce, incentives, location and the cost of doing business."

With travel, I was fortunate to visit some new destinations this year and return to places that I visited previously. Most of these trips resulted from tourism board invites but one was to fulfill a childhood dream that I saved and paid for via installments through a tour company.

On Thursday, October 28, 2021, SCREAM (2022) executive producer and scary movie expert Kevin Williamson will host an online experience that will give guests a chance to learn behind-the-scenes secrets of the SCREAM franchise, including the cast, characters, plot twists and more.

January had me already going on my first trip to St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida. I stayed at the Don CeSar, a grand hotel that is noted for its bright pink paint color. Its place along the beach was also nice and I spent some time wandering along the sand.

New York City got hit hard with the pandemic, with hospitals being inundated with cases, tourism locations having to shut down and restaurants still trying to stay afloat. I stayed at home much from March through June, only venturing out for fresh air walks or essential grocery shopping. I started going beyond that by heading to local parks and often very empty museums and getting takeout from nearby eateries.

In March 2020, probably our day-to-day travels involve going to and from the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom or heck even to the bathroom. Getting out for a walk or run or to the grocery store seems like an excursion in itself.

There are almost as many water conditions (frothy, glassy, curling) as there are places to paddle. Almost. Here are five of the best spots (rivers, surf breaks, island channels) and ways (sea kayaking, whitewater kayaking, heli-rafting) to get wet this year.

However, bolting on community challenges to an already world-class loyalty program gets interesting. Odyssey is adding a new dimension to how Starbucks is building their community from an obvious online dimension and combining it with a less obvious dimension of synchronicity.

Additionally, I believe synchronous online events like community challenges increase the size of the loyalty program itself. A visual I introduced in one of my previous pieces on Starbucks Odyssey evolves even further.

Community challenges in a vacuum aren’t new, regardless of online (see Twitch subathons) or offline (community fundraisers). Starbucks Rewards already has challenges to incentivize purchase behavior as well.

Community challenges in this form aren’t synchronous in the sense that everyone’s going to buy coffee at the exact same time, but this can be measured (eg: a hypothetical metric around store visits per hour or per day before and after the goal is reached. Store visit density? Store visit velocity?).

"I strongly believe that microorganisms will play a major role within our global society that will directly affect people's lives in terms of antibiotic resistance, emergence of both new and old diseases, and the ongoing threat of biological warfare," Molina said, noting the connection between climate change and the depletion of natural resources and the subsequent impact on the biological world.
