zebra problem

when i use koha with zebra i face a problem wiht arabic record, if i write any arabic word in any search field, koha retreives all the arabic records saving in it, but when i cancel zebra everything goes ok. 

my question is : can i use koha without zebra? and what is the deffirence between zebra and non zebra ???
