The 11.04 upgrade totally blew Koha away! I used an Ubuntu 11.04
Desktop CD and used option #2 "Upgrade Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04" (which I
understand only comes up if a network connection is present). It
started the upgrade including a section where it saved all the
installed packages. Everything seemed to be going great, but at the
end, where it was restoring previously installed packages it got an
error. The message said the upgrade would continue but that "you
might have to re-install some of your packages". I guess! Apache2
was gone, Mysql was gone, Koha was gone. Only thing left of Koha was
the User Manual on the desktop, the two Firefox desktop links (which
didn't work), and one file in /var/ somewhere. :-) Needless to say I
wouldn't recommend that upgrade method. Not sure if an upgrade from
the Update Manager would be any better for Koha but I'd tried that
earlier on another Ubuntu system and got an error while calculating
packages (had something to do with desktopcouch, I think, which is
well documented on the web). Well, fortunately, the Koha Live CD is
very easy to load! I just installed it again and it is finishing up
now... Not sure if I'll try a different upgrade path or not? I may
just stay with 10.10 and add some packages I like manually. By the
way, I don't like the new Unity desktop in 11.04. I always just use
the Classic Desktop myself. Take care...
