How do varying handover timelines affect family relocation decisions across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah?

Hey everyone, I've been scratching my head over this whole off-plan thing lately because we're thinking about uprooting the family from our current spot and settling somewhere more permanent in the UAE. Like, last year we almost pulled the trigger on a place but backed out when the handover kept getting pushed back—ended up sticking in our rental another six months, which was chaos with the kids' school transfers and all. So now I'm curious: how much do those different handover timelines really sway people's choices when relocating with family between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah? Some spots promise quicker moves in ready-ish builds, others drag on for years in off-plan. Does the wait make folks pick one emirate over another for schools, commutes, or just sanity? Anyone dealt with this headache and want to share what tipped the scales?

Lately I've noticed how handover dates seem to shift around more in the busier spots, especially where big infrastructure stuff is still going up nearby. Families end up juggling temporary setups longer than expected, and you hear about it in random chats at parks or school gates—someone's always got a story about extending a lease or changing schools last minute because the keys didn't show. It's funny how something that sounds straightforward on paper turns into this whole life puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit right away.

Yeah, timelines definitely mess with family plans more than people admit at first. In our case, we went for something in Dubai because the projected handover lined up almost exactly with when my wife's contract ends here and the kids finish the school year—no awkward gap where we'd be hotel-hopping or something. But a buddy of mine waited on an Abu Dhabi project that slipped nearly a year, so they ended up renting short-term there anyway and it threw off their whole budget for furnishing. Sharjah feels faster sometimes for certain developments, less hype maybe means fewer excuses for delays, but the commute into Dubai for work can kill that advantage quick. Honestly, if you're moving with little ones, anything beyond 2-3 years feels risky unless you're super patient. I've seen folks check out properties for sale in dubai  ,when they want more options without insane waits, just to compare realistic move-in dates. What bugs me most is how unpredictable some developers are—track record matters way more than fancy brochures, in my opinion.
