KHAS-GHAR OF AMBASTHAS
The names of Ambasthas’ Khas-Ghar are essentially identifier of
villages where Ambasthas settled in Magadh region, after getting
displaced from TAXILA in Mauryan time.
AMBASTHA---GAHIRWAR
Gahirwar (or Gahilwar) is one of Khas-Ghars of Ambastha Kayastha.
According to Bhaiya Karuna Sindhu Prasad- nick name Lalji Babu,
residing at the village Daru near Hazaribagh town, a couple of
Gahirwar family from the village & PS Kutumba of Aurangabad district
of Bihar state, lost their way in the forest, not far off from
Hazaribagh in Ramgarh Estate. This happened in the year 1768. This
couple was cited by Sundi caste people and was allowed to stay in
their village temporarily. Later the couple was advised to shift and
settle in the nearby village Daru where Bakhshi family used to live.
Daru is a pharasi word, meaning “tree”. Since this village was
surrounded by trees, the village was named as Daru. It seemed that the
couple came to this area with a view to seek a job in Ramgarh
estate..
Bhaiya Gautam Kumar, the eldest son of Late Bhaiya Nagendra Narayan,
widely known as Naggu Babu, belongs to Gahirwar Khas-Ghar. The
ancesters of Late Naggu Babu came from village Daru and settled at
Hazaribagh town. Naggu Babu was a social man with helping nature and a
senior leading advocate of Hazaribagh district court. Unfortunately
Naggu Babu died on 13 October 2011.
It is learnt that one of Gahirwars was given the title of “Bhaiya” by
the rulers of that area during British regime.
AMBASTHA---BHARTHUAaR
Bharthuar is another Khas-Ghar of Ambastha Kayastha. In 40s some of
Bharthuar family lived in the village Kharaanti near kasba and ps
Obaraa of Aurangabad district of Bihar state. The members of Bharthuar
family dispersed from the village to get employment elsewhere. A
member of this family lived at Bilaspur (MP).
