I'm wondering how to find out if the data analyser has been working for other people?

I cannot get the rank, score or compare function to work with any of my 5 trial surveys.

Thanks

Karen

Hi Karen,
The Excel Analyser was developed by OCHA and doesn't yet allow for the new format of the rank and matrix question types added to the formbuilder last year. I'm hoping that they will be able to update the file to make sure they will be supported. Please refer also to the user manual OCHA published for the Excel Analyser. If your issue isn't related to the rank and matrix question types please let us know.

Best wishes,
Tino

Thanks Tino

I'll keep an eye out for an update on when the Matrix and Ranking can be analysed, it's a wonderful question type :)

Dear Karen,
I have been able to have "some success" with RANK and SCORE.

Please find attached the file I used in Kobo Excel Analyzer.
I did the form in Kobo builder and the tailored in Excel.
The key lies in given teh "names" of the question with the suffixes given in the config. page of the Analyzer.

as you can see in the "survey" tab, I have set the "name" column as rank_1, rank_2...in some of the questions
Then in RANK tab I gave "weighs" (down to the right fields) 4,3,2,1...a 1st priority is more important and so on...
and score_A, score_B in other following this thought.
In the SCORE I have to create a "ghost question" and hide it in the "options to exclude, to have a nice chart....NOT PERFECT!

It worked for my test. I guess yo can further investigate this.

COMPARE remains a mistery to me...as my file shown something, but I cannot understand it:-), Will keep trying when I have a chance.

Hope it helped somehow:-)

Agree with Tino that it would be nice to Kobotoolbox  working in rank, score and compare tabs, or alternatively creating a new wersion of the great tool, EXCEL analyzer that is compatible with it.

Hi Iker,
We wrote this encoder guide for the Kobo Excel Analyser that might be useful for you (for the COMPARE question), you can find it here: http://www.mdc-toolkit.org/design-your-forms/

Dear Maeve,
Thanks very much for this info...I think this is what was missing to me regarding this...and many other things about Kobo.
Cheers and good job
