Our entire staff is shocked by the devastation caused by fires burning in Northern and Southern California. The Strawberry community is particularly affected by the tremendous destruction in Paradise, with many attendees, and two festival founders, hailing from this special place. Almost all of them are evacuated now, some have lost their homes, and many more are still waiting to find out what remains. We all feel relieved, and grateful, when someone we know is accounted for and safe, and terribly saddened for those who have lost or are still looking for loved ones. There are many of us folk, on the outside, who are still worried for their friends and wondering how to help.
Please feel free to use the following Facebook thread to connect with Strawberrians affected by and about fires burning in California right now, including the Camp Fire, Hill Fire, and Woolsey Fire. If you are displaced, you can check in here to let us know that you are OK, as well as what you need and what your community can do to help. This is a good place to identify specific items for donation, to share go-fund-me campaigns for fire victims, or to share information about grassroots efforts being organized in your area. We’ll keep this post pinned to the top of our page, while evacuation centers are still in operation. For all of you out there, who are displaced or affected by fire, please know that we are thinking about you. We are especially grateful to all the firefighters who have risked their safety to protect life and property, in California.
