| | Hello Festival Friend,There's a lot of big stuff going for many of us right now. The most important thing is, and always will be, the health and safety of our family and friends. Our thoughts continue to be with those displaced by fire in California right now, as well as those among us who are suffering from loss and illness.
Every day spent being part of this incredible community of extraordinarily kind, and talented, music lovers is truly a gift of the highest caliber and it is what we go into the holiday season being most grateful for. We remain committed to preserving our community's musical traditions for future generations to experience, and organize for themselves, at least twice annually. |

STRAWBERRY WILL NOT HOLD ITS TRADITIONAL FALL FESTIVAL IN 2019 – TO RETURN BETTER THAN EVER IN 2020 |
|
For many of us, Strawberry Music Festivals are an important annual tradition. Some travel great distances and make arrangements months in advance. Because a missed festival has a huge impact on the Strawberry family, this decision has been made with care, so that you could be notified early enough to modify your plans.
Strawberry continues to discuss the future of the Westside property with Tuolumne Economic Development Authority, Inc. (commonly referred to as TEDA). We understand that the long-planned millpond restoration continues to be a project and that real progress is being made. Construction on the historic Westside dam could begin as early as next year. This work would have significant impacts on areas used during Strawberry. Therefore, Strawberry is skipping its traditional Fall Festival, for one year only, in 2019, with plans to return to Westside, over Labor Day weekend, in 2020.
Over the past five years working together, we have developed great respect for the folks at TEDA, the branch of the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians that manages the Westside property. We appreciate them for undertaking this important project. Restoration of the millpond is good for the community of Tuolumne, for maintaining the water table, and for the environment. When the pond is full, Westside will become a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts and an exceptional location for Fall Strawberry, with lots of water recreation opportunities. We are incredibly grateful to the many Strawberrians who have come to Westside and helped to sustain the festival! Thank you for your continued support, Strawberry Staff |
