King & Queen of Pride Contest
You asked for it, so here it is. The First Annual, Knoxville PrideFest King & Queen of Pride Contest!
Check out the details below including how to enter, ideas on raising money, the prizes available and, most importantly, how to win the contest and be the first ever Knoxville PrideFest King or Queen of Pride.
The contest rules are simple. Any Male or Female Impersonator may participate. You don’t have to be on cast anywhere, but you do need to live in TN AND be available to participate in your reward the day of the festival, Saturday, 6/23 from 2-8pm. (More on that below) You will need to sign up on our website (www.knoxvillepridefest.com) under the King & Queen of Pride Contest Tab and pay your entry fee. The fee is $150 to participate (it IS a fundraiser after all), but the winners will be reimbursed for their fee.*
Once registered, you simply spread the word you are participating and start collecting money and votes, HOWEVER you choose to do so, and the King & Queen with the most of each at the end of the contest, wins. ALL monies raised on behalf of this contest are the property of the East TN Equality Council to benefit Knoxville PrideFest 2012 whether you win the contest or not. The contest will begin as soon as you register and will end at 5pm on Tuesday, 6/19. All monies will need to be turned in at that point and the votes will be tallied. The winners will be determined by a 50/50 weighting of votes and monies raised. In the event of a tie, the top money raiser will be crowned. You can have people donate on your behalf thru the "Donate Here" button on our website, they can "tip" you at various shows, you can hold a bake sale/car wash/yard sale, they can just write a check to ETEC for you, or you can even donate yourself. However the money is raised, if you turn it in (or direct it to us) it counts towards your contest.
The Awards, aside from the title itself, include a crown, a sash, reimbursement of your entry fee*, a chauffeured ride in the Pride Parade for the King & Queen, recognition online, AND a solo performance on the ETEC Stage on Mkt Square at Knoxville PrideFest 2012. You will also hold the title until next year’s contest. The Awards will be announced and winners crowned at the Celebrity Bartending event at Preservation Pub on Wednesday, 6/20, so make sure you can attend to claim your prizes and prepare for your special performance and for your ride in the parade!
