Hi Eben D. Knowlton,
Hope you are still on here!! I as I just retired, I have been
researching my Ancestry. Saw your message and am interested in any
info that may pertain the Knowlton's from England, Massachusetts,
Vinton co, Athens County, Especially the "a letter to Johanna" by
John Knowlton, as I am Johanna Knowlton (My first name as I go by
my middle name), and my father is John Knowlton. I pray you are
there, hopefully you are a relative, as I am finding more than I
realized. as I was raised by my mother's side once they divorced
at a young age.
Hello, Johanna,
I am going to answer this here and also put it in a new thread
because it was buried at the end of a long thread from 2014. I
doubt anyone else has read it. I suggest you join the Knowlton
mailing list that moved from Rootsweb (bought out by Ancestry.com)
to Google a few years ago. We will try to help you.

There are thousands of Knowltons, so you have to get pretty
specific. I do not know what "Vinton co, Athens County" means.
There is an Athens County in Ohio. I have collected a lot of
research on Athens Co., OH, Knowltons.
Do you know your father's dates with places (birth,
marriage, death)? If he was born after 1950, do you know his
parents' names with same data?
Almost all Knowltons descend from two men reared as brothers
in Ipswich, MA, but have proved not to have had the same father
through DNA testing. That is OK, it was a long time ago, 1600s,
so we are all happy to use the surname Knowlton. I hope this
reaches you. Elizabeth W Knowlton, knowl...@earthlink.net
