Anthropocene [1] is a term which names what is now believed to be the current epoch, this one created by human activity. The term has been in existence for several decades; could it be that Douglas Engelbart saw that and turned it into his concept, and context, of complex, urgent problems?
The Knowledge Federation tribe was co-created by Dino Karabeg and me when we met in Leipzig in 2007; certainly, "anthropocene" was not our topic; rather, we both recognized an opportunity based on a particular technology: topic maps.
The DKR2 tribe, in my view, is the co-creation of Frode Hegland and Sam Hahn, both enormously long-term associates of Doug Engelbart. Frode recently shepherded a collaborative event called The Future of Text, and DKR2 seems to have fallen out of that, largely in recognition of the impending 50th anniversary of Engelbart's Mother Of All Demos. They seek to encourage if not facilitate another demo, this time with modern technologies.
Overall, if it is true (I believe it is) that we are now in, and created the latest global epoch, then it behooves us to "get ahead of it'. It's "huge".
It seems to me: we can do this.
Cheers
