We are delighted to announce the Global Banking and Finance Association (GLOBAFA) 2026 Conference. The event will take place on May 29-30, 2026, in Madrid, bringing together experts, scholars, and practitioners from around the world to share their insights and research findings in the field of banking and finance. The conference will be held in collaboration with the Eurasia Business and Economics Society (EBES) as a hybrid event, offering both online and in-person participation options.
The program includes keynote addresses, research paper presentations, early stage ideas forum, and paper development workshops for doctoral students and early-stage scholars. Selected papers presented at the conference will also have the opportunity to be considered for publication in the collaborating journals. Attendance and participation in sessions and workshops will be available both online and in person.
Participation Options
- Standard Session Presentation: Presenters can share their complete or incomplete full-length articles. Each presentation lasts 15 minutes, followed by a 10-minute discussion led by an assigned discussant. Submission requires an extended abstract (400+ words) in English, including objectives, methods, results, and conclusions, along with JEL classification and keywords.
- Letter/Short Article Presentation: Designed for concise, novel work prepared for publication in letter format. Submissions should be around 3,000 words. Presenters will have 7 minutes to present, followed by a brief Q&A. Presentations should cover the introduction, data and methodology, results, and discussion.
- Paper Development Workshop (online only): Tailored for advanced doctoral students and early-stage scholars. This workshop provides an opportunity to discuss research design and methodology with leading journal editors. Only single-authored or co-authored papers with doctoral students or early-career scholars are eligible. Participation is limited, and priority will be given to doctoral students.
- The Early Stage Ideas Forum (in-person only): The Early Stage Ideas Forum welcomes submissions from researchers at all career stages who are looking to stress test a developing research idea or project. This session is intended for work that has not yet matured into a full paper, such as projects where the core research question, theoretical framing, or methodological approach is still being refined. A panel of senior scholars will then provide rapid, direct, and high-impact feedback, challenging assumptions and identifying strengths, weaknesses, and potential blind spots.
