Respected Scholar,
Namaste,
Chanakya University considers it a privilege to organize the first International Conference on Bhāratīya Arthaśāstra Tradition. In the spirit of shared inquiry and pursuit of knowledge, we invite you to submit research abstracts to the International Conference
on Bhāratīya Arthaśāstra Tradition: Theories, Practices, and Contemporary Relevance, scheduled for 29–31 October 2026 at the Chanakya University Global Campus, Bengaluru.
The Bhāratīya Arthaśāstra Tradition (BAT) draws from classical texts, most notably Kauṭilya’s Arthaśāstra, exploring the acquisition and sustenance of artha—wealth, resources, and governance. Rooted in ancient statecraft, its insights remain highly relevant
to modern fields such as Law, Sociology, Public Policy, and International Relations. BAT extends beyond literary sources, incorporating non-literary traditions to offer a holistic framework for governance, management, and business studies. Encompassing texts
like the Cāṇakya Sūtras, Nītiśāstra, Dharmaśāstra, and epics, the tradition reflects deep interdisciplinary wisdom. This conference aims to trace BAT’s evolution, examine its contemporary applications, and foster dialogue among scholars and practitioners on
its enduring legacy.

The conference seeks to bring together scholars and practitioners to engage with the Bhāratīya Arthaśāstra Tradition (BAT)—a body of classical thought shaped by śāstric literature, Kauṭilya’s foundational work, and insights from the epics. These texts continue
to offer lasting frameworks for governance, economic organisation, diplomacy, administration, and statecraft. The event aims to examine these foundations while exploring their relevance to contemporary academic and policy contexts.
We welcome your research contributions to this dialogue. The deadline for abstract submission is 15 December 2025. Abstracts may be submitted using the QR code in the attached flyer or directly through the following link:
