A recent study shows that linear TV viewing has fallen below 50 percent as compared to streaming content and if you read recent headlines, you might think that everyone is, instead, watching Suits on streaming giant Netflix. Not me though, I'm Narcos all the way.

When I read Nielsen's recent study that showed linear TV watching (think broadcast, which I guess could come over cable, air, or satellite) fell for the first time to below 50%, I wasn't surprised. While I often watch broadcast news shows in the morning, our evenings are filled with streaming content.

In fact, when we're struggling to find something to watch, we're invariably switching between our too many streaming subscription options. If we do watch linear TV, it's only on demand, which is essentially like streaming from traditional TV networks. Nielsen's study echoes one from earlier in the year from Morning Consult that found that while 65% of millennials and boomers were still watching linear TV, only 27% of Gen Z adults said they did in the same time frame.

When I talk to young people about shows on traditional broadcast networks, I notice their eyes glazing over. They have no idea what I'm talking about. If someone isn't a star on YouTube or TikTok, they don't exist. And I'm not denigrating those stars, they often deliver highly valuable news, tips, and other information. They are, for all intents and purposes, Gen Z's news and entertainment source.

In any case, none of this news is surprising, but my new television content consumption reality means that when I search for something new to watch, it's never about what shows ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox in the US have on offer. We always look to the streamers.

Some months ago, I noticed Suits on Peacock. I'd never watched the show during its initial run (2011-to-2019) on USA Network and didn't even tune in when one of its former stars Meghan Markle became a royal. I was curious, though, so I convinced my wife to try it.

When you try a series like this on any streaming platform, you instantly know a few things. It has a fan base that made it worth bringing it to Peacock (initially), and now, as of June 17, Netflix. It's a substantial watch, meaning there are years of episodes and that, if it hooks you, your summer is planned, and, if it lasted nine seasons, it can't be terrible.

My wife and I watched and I found the first episode frantic, amusing, and unexpected. I literally had no idea what the show was about (Hot-shot lawyer takes a fake lawyer under his wing) until I watched the pilot. I liked it but my wife didn't, or, rather, she was unmoved and didn't press, as one normally does when you're hooked, to instantly stream the second episode.

Unlike Suits, Narcos is a Netflix native. I'm not wildly interested in the history of the drug trade but since The Last of Us on Max, we'd become big Pedro Pascal fans and, yes, my wife instantly noticed his grizzled visage in the show art.

It is a great show. Excellent acting and great characters often based on real-life figures. It's intense, brutal, violent, scary, bold, adult, mostly historically accurate, and sometimes objectionable. Unlike Suits, we watched Episode 1 and the birth of Pablo Escobar's drug-trade ambitions and were instantly hooked. Before the night was over we'd watched three episodes.

Soon, we'll finish Narcos, but I doubt we'll be joining the Suits parade. When my wife wondered if there was anything lighter to watch, a sort of palate cleanser after a particularly brutal episode of Narcos, I suggested Suits. My wife shook her head and made a face. "I dunno. It just didn't grab me."

Many fans of the popular series Suits are wondering why season 9 isn't on Netflix and where they can stream it online. Suits first appeared on USA Network in June 2011 and has since gained increased popularity during its nine-season run which produced a total of 134 episodes. Strangely enough, eight of the nine seasons of the acclaimed series, which concluded in 2019 with a 10-episode season 9, are available on Netflix while season 9 is not.

The cast of Suits features a variety of characters in the high-stakes world of lawsuits and court cases, telling the unlikely and fictional story of how a man who didn't even go to law school started practicing law. Throughout the first eight seasons of Suits, the fast-paced energy mixed with the sharp acting and informed writing combine to elevate the series above the standard legal television drama. Even with all its critical acclaim and the overarching power of the streaming giant Netflix, season 9 of Suits is not on Netflix for one major reason.

While Netflix hasn't publicly confirmed this to be the case, the most logical reason why Suits season 9 is not available on Netflix is most likely due to the fact that other streaming platforms hold exclusive rights to it. In this case, it's likely a smart decision by other streaming platforms to entice new subscribers into joining their month-to-month service or starting their free trial, if applicable. If Netflix had the rights to Suits season 9, there would be no reason at all for the streaming giant to not include it on its platform with the acclaimed show's other eight prestigious seasons.

Suits season 9 can only be viewed on two other streaming platforms, which is certainly frustrating for viewers of the show who only have access to Netflix. Netflix had originally announced earlier in 2023 that all nine seasons of the popular series would be arriving on their platform on June 17, but this clearly did not turn out to be true. As for now at least, the only way to watch the final season of Suits is to gain access to one of two other popular streaming services, although it's uncertain whether Suits season 9 will eventually become available on Netflix in the coming months.

As of July 2023, Suits season 9 is only available to stream on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video. In fact, all nine seasons of Suits can be streamed exclusively on Peacock, while only season 9 is available to stream for Amazon Prime Video subscribers. Both services require separate paid subscriptions in order to access Suits season 9. Seasons 1-8 are also available to digitally purchase on Amazon Prime Video. Ostensibly, Netflix is likely prevented from offering Suits season 9 due to Amazon Prime Video's exclusive streaming rights, which appears to be a strategy aiming to pull Netflix subscribers and fans of Suits over to Amazon Prime Video.

Suits season 9 picks up where season 8 left off, starting with Harvey and Samantha equally fighting to keep Zane's name on the wall and also retain Robert's clients after his disbarment. Donna and Harvey spend their first night together as a couple and eventually tell Louis about their relationship, who is under direct supervision from the Bar. Faye Richardson takes full control of the firm and later becomes the acting manager partner. Eventually, Donna and Harvey's relationship gets exposed to Faye, and Donna must choose between retaining her vote on the board or keeping her commitment to Harvey.

During the latter half of Suits season 9, Mike returns to New York City ready to come after Harvey. Mike creates public issues and stirs the pot over a case he has representing a prominent basketball player, which he uses to show his superior intelligence over Harvey. Samantha gets involved and becomes determined to prove Mike wrong by manufacturing evidence which ultimately gets her fired by Faye. Toward the end of the season, Harvey and Samantha travel together to locate Samantha's biological father, who reveals that he did not even know that he had a daughter. This inspires Harvey to reach out to his mother, feeling remorseful for neglecting her for years. The series finale of Suits follows Donna, Samantha, and Mike's attempts at suing Faye and getting rid of her for wrongful termination.

Any fellow TV junkies reading this article know that Suits is a gripping legal drama that thrives on the magic of power play, sharp wit, and impeccably tailored suits. If you followed Suits, then you know that it isn't just your regular run-of-the-mill legal drama. One could aptly describe the series as a hot cup of coffee on a frosty morning, with a dash of bourbon thrown in for good measure. The series is truly the best of the best, if you ask us.

Set in the cutthroat world of high-stakes law firms and the backdrop of the concrete jungle, New York City, Suits became a fan-favorite because it refused to be confined to the dryness that often characterizes legal shows or, dare I say, crime TV. As the plot of the series unfolds, we're taken on a wild ride through the labyrinthine world of corporate law.

Netflix tickled all of our TV fancies when it announced that it would be launching the series on its platform in June 2023. Now, we all know that Netflix is one of the big kahunas of the digital TV streaming era, so it was only right to expect that they would release all nine seasons in their rollout.

The highly anticipated final season premiered on July 17, 2019, and marked the culmination of the characters' storylines and the series' conclusion. Alongside Season 9, a spin-off series called Pearson also debuted, expanding the Suits universe for fans to explore. So, in spite of Netflix keeping its promise to release the series on its platform, fans were disappointed to find that only the first eight seasons were currently available for streaming on the platform! Talk about immense legal suspense!

While Netflix hasn't publicly explained why Season 9 was excluded from their lineup, there's still hope that it will be available in the future. We don't know when, but for now, TV fans can stream the entire ninth season on other platforms like Peacock. Also, Amazon's Prime Video has the season finale available for purchase. That's all we know for now because Netflix is being tight-lipped about the entire thing, but hey, glass half-full, right?
