WELCOME TO
THE KNITTY CITY NEWSLETTER

"All the News" that's fit to Knit"

Every week from now on, we’ll be bringing you a quick little read on
the new events and goodies that are turning up in our store. We know
it's not the time to be thinking heavy wool, but Knitty City is so
much more than a store that sells knitting supplies. We're your
community store for all things creative and we hope you'll stop by and
let us show you. You can be sure you'll also meet some very neat
people. Staff and customers share your love of making things by hand
and the friendships that have developed here are very precious to us
all.

We carry a full line of summer weight yarns and we're involved with
many creative events that you just might find of interest. So read
on and decide when you'll pop in and let us be a part of your
neighborhood experience this summer.

SPECIAL EVENTS THIS WEEK

LOONEY TUNIS YARNS are being presented this Saturday, July 23 at the
store, from 3-5 PM. Please stop by and meet the owners of this
amazing farm and see some of the one of a kind yarns spun from their
flock of Tunis Sheep.

KNITTING IN THE PARK - Knitty City continues to Sponsor the free
knitting lessons in Bryant Park every Tuesday from 1-3 PM. Please
remember to let anyone who doesn’t know how to knit in on this. We're
set up by the statue of Gertrude Stein. You might recognize her by
her Knitty City Scarf - just remember to keep you eye out for a bunch
of laughing people.

STITCH N' PITCH

METS VS. NATIONALS.

Knitty City is again selling tickets for this event. The price is the
same as last year: $15.00. Sit together with family, friends, and
fellow Stitch N’ Pitch fans in designated Promenade Reserved Infield
seats. Using supplied materials, or your own, knit/crochet scarves
and baby hats for donation to “Warm Up America”. There will be a
SURPRISE yarn display!

receive a needlepoint Mets logo canvas kit!

store or online at www.mets.com/stitchnpitch

We are also participating in the "YARNSTORM" this year and we'll be
decorating the area around our seats. If people are members of
knitting groups who want to contribute to the event, they should
contact Knitty City to get yarn and designated assignments so as not
to duplicate efforts. From now until the Mets game, we will be
knitting for the yarnstorm from 6:00 - 8:00 every Thursday evening.
Call Pearl to find out more details, if needed, or just turn up at the
store any Thursday evening and jump in!

NEW BOOKS & PATTERNS

While you may not be thinking wool this week, there's no time like now
to plan ahead for the winter that is bound to come. We have just
received our new shipment of beautiful books from Rowan, manufacturers
of wonderful materials and inspiring patterns and home to many of the
most gifted British designers in the industry, including Martin
Storey, Kaffe Fassett,
Kate Buller, Erika Knight, Jean Moss.......the list goes on.

ROWAN BOOK #50 is in the store, containing 32 beautiful patterns
and articles that instruct and entertain. These books are among the
finest in the knitting world. Beautifully priced and incredibly lush,
they are classics that you will wish to retain. Also in stock:
Winter Warmers,a collection of special patterns featuring Lima, a very
popular lightweight wool and alpaca blend. NORDIC TWEEDS, is a book
featuring charming scandinavian inspired patterns that are ideal for
the Rowan line of felted and heritage inspired yarns we carry.

Many knitters say that finding good patterns for men is difficult. No
more since Rowan and Martin Storey have created a wonderful new book
of patterns for men: DALESMEN is a collection of men's Scandinavian
winter inspired knitwear, containing beautiful snowflake and
reindeer intarsia knits and chunky, bold and traditional cable aran
designs.

NEW YARNS

We continue to be one of the largest purveyors of Madeline Tosh Yarns
in the NYC area We are thrilled to offer you the full range of colors
and weights. But check often since this line continues to sell out
very quickly and her colors are unique and the hand dyeing insures
that they vary from lot to lot. So buy it when you see it because
once gone, it's gone.

Rowan is stepping up to the plate this Fall with some new yarn colors
for its popular LIMA , a yarn that has been very popular due to it’s
soft hand (alpaca, wool, nylon) and it’s light touch. Pattern support
for this yarn is superb

gorgeous blended colors, and HERITAGE TWEED, a soft and tweedy dk
weight in rich colors that bespeak its heritage. We are fully stocked
with this line ....for the moment.
