FREE EVENT!

Last Spring Knitty City hosted a Great American Afghan Knit-Along.
Betty Balcomb led the group but made clear that she was just knitting
a couple of squares... NOT an entire afghan. Almost a year has past
and Betty has finally finished her Great Upper Westside Knafghan* and
she loves it and is very proud of it and wants to share it with Knitty
City’s loyal clientele.

This Thursday, April 30th from 6-8pm, Betty will reveal her masterwork
to the public for the first time. She will talk about the creative
process that went into it’s design and production, give tips on making
your own special and individualized version and provide a few mini-
lessons on some of the techniques she employed.

When Betty grows weary of talking and being fussed over, we will begin
our Second Annual Great American Afghan Knit-Along. If there is
sufficient demand we will continue the Knit-along Thursday evenings in
May. No Fee for this event, but the May Knit-Alongs will cost $15 per
session.

*When Betty’s son was a toddler, he thought the term for a knitted
blanket was “a nafghan.” The usage stuck in the family and at some
time the silent “K” was added to the spelling.
