May at Knitty City

[Knitty City]

There's a lot going on at Knitty City during the month of May. So
much, in fact, that we felt we needed to send an update on classes and
events. We are sensitive to the fact that a lot of emails are winging
through the ethernet (we get 'em,too), so we do appreciate your
receiving these.

PARTY ON WITH VOGUE KNITTING, MAY 14, 6-8 PM
Join us as we celebrate with the editors and staff of Vogue Knitting
and thank them for their generous coverage of KC in the spring issue.
They have also sent over a trunk show and we'll be taking a look at
some of the wonderful garments in that issue!

MAY MASTER CLASS NEWS,MAY 19, Cost $60.00
Iris Schreier, owner/designer/ArtYarns, will be teaching from 2-5 PM
on Tuesday, 5.19. She will be teaching one of two projects. You are
free to choose either of the folllowing projects: 1.Moebius Wrap with
Silk Rhapsody--Requires 1-2 skeins of Silk
Rhapsody (2 skeins of 2 colors for the striped effect) and a size
8 circular needles, 32" long. Pattern will be provided for this
project

2.Cabled Scarf from Reversible Knits--1-2 skeins of Silk Pearl
or Ultramerino 4, size 6 knitting needles, 2 cable needles or
double pointed needles, and copy of book Reversible Knits.

Please note: It is an ArtYarns policy that only ArtYarns be used for
classwork. All Master Class students on that day will be given a 25%
discount on ArtYarns used in the class. The new "Reversible Knits"
book is required for the cabled scarf project. You can bring your
own copy or they are available, for sale, at the store.

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND:
Double Knitting Workshop: Level 1 with Alasdair Post-Quinn
Saturday, May 23 or Saturday, June 13, 12-3pm; $75
Double Knitting is a unique method of making a fabric with no "wrong"
side and a reversible pattern built into it. In this class, you'll
learn a new 2-color cast-on for double knitting, get comfortable with
the techniques involved, then move into colorwork. Students must know
long-tail cast-on, knit, and purl.

Double Knitting Workshop: Level 2 with Alasdair Post-Quinn
Sundays, May 24 & June 14, 12-3pm; $125
Now learn how to apply technique to the making of a hat. At the end
of the first class, you'll have a small gauge-swatch, be comfortable
with double knitting in the round, and have a plan for making a hat.
During the second class, you will finish off the hat! Previous double-
knitting experience required.
