SACCO First Investment

Dear Friends,

​It is with great pleasure that I write this email to you all, informing you of what has been taking place behind the scenes.

Two months ago, Julianne and I met after a long while in an idea sharing session regarding this SACCO.

We both expressed interest and commitment in serving you, and this led us to a number of resolutions that we shall share in bits, starting with one today.

To go carryout research on possible investment ventures that are almost risk free, but provide the good returns.

Among the ventures put on table were;

• Treasury bills
• Insurance
• Fixed deposits
• Others
  

From the little research we did in a period of about two months, we came to a conclusion that Treasury bills was the best investment venture among those listed. According to the BOU website as I write this email, treasury bills go for between 15.64 and 17.3, and we could go for a period of three months or a year. For details, please look at this link

Am writing this email to let you know what your money will do, so that when you get to the bank and find less money on the account, it does not surprise you or cause alarm, your money will be making profits somewhere else.

A meeting is to be scheduled with signatories and whoever will express interest, aimed at determining how much we should start with and for how long.

Please reply to this email attaching Julianne for any questions that you may have.

Hello Team,

As promised last week, we shall have our first meeting next week on Wednesday, the 17th of August 2016 at 6pm. Venue will be communicated based on who confirms by end of Tuesday.

We are looking forward to investing shares not people's savings, whoever has information regarding this should make it available, else compute based on the initial shares bought as one becomes a member for determining how much is at our disposal.

We should aim at effecting our first investment by 2nd September 2016.

Among the things to agree upon include;

• Amount for initial investment
• Choose the person(s) to invest on our behalf
  
•  Agree on duration of investment
• Whether profits made on investment should be added onto individual savings or share at the end of the year
• When our next meeting should be conducted.
  

Please push through any questions you may have before the meeting, so that Julianne and I can prepare in advance.

Let's equally consider resuming monthly saving this month.

Can we look at having a compulsory amount to be saved. And attached to it a repercussion for defaulting. I think if we give this a second try it should be grand and. One who defoults for up to 3monthd without official communication is automatically removed from the group.

We should look at removing zeroforce members. I think this will even make it easier for the leaders and a good moral booster.

Good submission, and had it dearly considered in our meeting. Something I have seen a certain SACCO do but it's effectiveness questionable. We intend to have a completely different mode of operation based on inspiration or motivation as opposed to stringent rules. It's easier having people do what they like/love than having them do what they ought to do because they have to. Our focus is on helping people appreciate the advantages of saving as a group, and do what they like doing.

Having this SACCO to where we want it to be will take time, we have to be patient. The way monthly savings are done will equally change but not now.

Am currently doing machine learning, please avail me with whichever information I ask for, it will be for the betterment of my skill and better decision making when it comes to creating rules that people will like and not do things because they have to. Questions will be entirely be based on the likelihood of having a particular decision/rule liked by the team, generate some percentages(confidence level) for my own consumption and those who may pick interest.

Hi all.
We have  had a discussion  and the plan is to invest 2M in treasury bills  for 91days for a start.
So the task ahead is to get the requirements for opening the account with our dealer bank DFCU.
So we hope to have closed this by close of next week. We shall then open the account and deposit the money in the week after.

In order to have our capital base widened & investment /bargaining power better let's all at least buy shares  every month worth 40k & Save a minimum 20k.  So the bear minimum is 60k.

As a penalty for not saving and buying shares for a particular investment period, the individual in question will earn anything from that period's investment.

To embrace  the SACCO again  commitment is of the essence.

I am willing to give the reconciliation time this time round  since we want this to work.

Hello Peter,

There's a lot of paperwork. We hope to have all information filled in before today ends. I have been out of Kampala and Julianne is not in perfect health.

We want to use tomorrow for getting signatures and passport photos from signatories.

We hope to have those papers signed and submitted before end of day, Monday.

Hope people made their monthly contributions for the month of August though.
