Russia and the Middle East... A Long Love Affair

There are a number of articles on this, one specifically brought this
concept in the title to the forefront.

Here is the truth: the Soviet Union, the Communist Giant, was
responsible for backing most of the bad Islamists who are the progeny
and elders we see of the Islamists today.

The Left and the Islamists have always worked together deeply -- even
though they have had their love spats. Like Afghanistan.

You would think Afghanistan, for instance, or Chechnya, would have been
enough to drive these guys away. After all, Afghanistan was a ten year
war which cost over two million Afghani lives...

But the truth is grimer: Osama Bin Laden went to Afghanistan to take it
over. Fighting the Soviets was just part of the game. He was fighting
his brothers over a piece of meat. The Arabs killed as many Afghans as
they did Soviets. The Afghans hated them.

In fact, we forget in our bravado: the Afghans helped us win
Afghanistan. This very same army the Arabs had ousted after the Soviets
finally left finally had their day.

In Yemen and other places we have seen some Islamists fight Communists.
But, again, this is just like when one crime family member tries to
"bump" a competitor for a higher place on the food chain.

They are united in spirit: their lies give them many faces.
