to a new cisco catalyst c3560g switch, I installed the certificationkits tftp server on my local desktop and i can ping the tftp server from the switch and vice versa, each time I run command on switch copy tftp flash i keep getting no such file and i am sure i have copied the file to the default folder of the tftp server. I need some one to help me out and tell what am doing wrong.

I just downloaded and installed the SW tftp server on a Windows Vista Enterprise SP2 machine. I logged into my Cisco switches and cannot push or pull anything to the tftp server. I've read through the other posts and have done the following:

EDIT:To elaborate, we have sites with 50 - 100 switches in separate locations we cannot use console servers, guys with laptops running around for us etc.I'm starting to think my only option is upgrading the MDF Switch to a 3560 on all new sites (we do not have access to routers unfortunately)

If there is no filename specified or if that file is not available, the switch will start asking for default configs, this will be different per switch/ap/router.One of the files it asks for fx. is cisconet.cfg If it cannot get data on the tftp address specified it will also try on 255.255.255.255 so it will ask on broadcast for a tftp server as well.

The next line will save the flash image to the specified folder of the remote host. This is specified in the default tftp server. Mostly if left by default is saved on the root folder where the tftp files are stored. The saving process taked sometime before it concludes. This depends majorly on how large your flash image is.

When working with Cisco equipment that has multiple ip interfaces, a common problem engineers are faced with is trying to successfully tftp to or from the Cisco device. This issue is usually encountered when the Cisco device (router or multi-layer switch) uses a different source IP address which cannot reach our TFTP Server's IP address or is blocked due to access lists.

To ensure your Cisco router or multi-layer switch uses the correct interface during any tftp session, use the ip tftp source-interface command to specify the source-interface that will be used by the device.

i tried to increase the blocksize from my switch cisco 2960x,as suggested above to 8192.
now weirdly i see the drops are increasing compared to before
Loading c2960x-universalk9-mz.152-7.E6.bin from 172.21.x.x (via Vlan10): !OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The TFTP server component of ETS is simple but effective, enabling you to concurrently upload and download executable images and configurations to switches and routers. This TFTP server is augmented by many of the other tools included in ETS, including the ability to automatically and rapidly discover your entire network. This encompasses the discovery of switch port mapping, equipment, MAC to IP address relationships, and much more. By automating this process, ETS saves you time and resources otherwise spent manually identifying your network components.

WhatsUp Gold, by Ipswitch, is another well-known network monitoring solution. While WhatsUp Gold is a paid tool, Ipswitch also provides a free TFTP server tool, designed to secure and simplify the transfer of configuration and system files across your network.

The easy way to enter the IOS filename is to browse to the tftp root folder on your tftp server (which is usually the same box from which you have established a console session). To easily determine the TFTP Root directory in TFTPD click the Show Dir button

Example 4-13 prepares a CatOS-based switch to send syslog messages at facility local4. Also, the switch will only send messages with a severity of warning or higher. The syslog server is on a machine with an IP address of 192.168.0.30.

Note: In an actual network, if there is more than one interface active on the router, you may need to enter the ip tftp source interface command to specify which interface should be used to contact the TFTP server. This command is not supported in PT 7.2 and older versions and is not necessary to complete this activity.
