I've found lots of programs for converting graphic and vector data
into KML. What I need is something that does the opposite.

I've drawn some complex polygons in Google Earth and saved them as KML
files. What I would like now is a method for graphically editing these
kml files outside of Google Earth. Essentially, I'm looking for ways
to remove large chunks of the polygon data or add to it graphically.

Does anything like that exist? Any graphic editor that can import KML
files or even a way to convert a KML file to a vector format supported
by Photoshop or other graphic editor and then back again?

The only KML importer that I know of is Safe Software. Sounds like a
great app for someone to write.

I just ran across another application, kml2shp, which is free. Again,
I can't make any recommendations, but it may be worth trying.

The new Photoshop CS3, extended version, allows you to open and edit
native KMZ files ...

I should clarify that ... it allows you to open and edit KMZ files
with a 3D aspect to them. But not standard placemarks, or flat
polygons. :)
