how do you convert .kml files into something useable in arcmap?

i can open .kml's in arcglobe, but i need to open them in arcmap to
add data into a database i'm editing. any pointers?

You could covert the KML to CSV ala this

MapWindow GIS has an extension that will convert KML to shapefiles.
