Did you try using OGR2OGR?

Here's an article that explains shapefiles to KML, but it could
similarly work for KML to .tab:

There is a third party software I use. Go to Globalmapper.com and you
can buy the translator which will convert KML to MapInfo tab files.
Works well cost $349.00. Does other translations also.
