Hi,
I am able to export a scene created in Blender to .xml (which I saved
as a .dae file which is also essentially the same as an xml file).
However, when I specify groups in Blender (group objects together) or
specify textures that are mapped to certain objects and try to load
the kmz file in Google Earth (i place the dae file in a model
directory and zip up and save the doc.kml and model directory as a kmz
file), it reports an error: "cannot load model".
I have also posted this in the Blender forums. I am not sure if this
is an error with the built in export script in Blender or if Google
Earth is unable to support groups and/or textures.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does Blender have an export to Collada?

It has an export to XML functionality. Collada files (.dae) are
essentially .xml files. If there are no textures and no groupings
when I export the file to Collada (XML), the model appears in the KMZ
file when loaded in Google Earth.

Hi,

I've never used Blender, so I'm flying a little blind here, but a
quick search reveals that Collada export is not built in to Blender,
you have to get one of several plugins. I'm guessing that you may be
confusing XML with Collada. Collada is an XML language, but not all
XML is Collada. In fact, some XML is KML, and a host of other
languages and formats.
