Search on KML

Hello everyone :]

I'm working on putting a google maps app together, which uses a couple
of KML overlays. I've been asked to add a search feature so that
people can search for a specific ID of a plot of land which is in my
KML, and centre the map on a found plot while also bringing up its
information as though we had clicked on it.

However, I'm not aware of any way to do this. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
