How would one load a KMZ (not KML) file into the Javascript Google
Maps API?

Check out 'GGeoXml' in the Google Maps API reference and
documentation; it currently supports KML, KMZ, and GeoRSS subject to
these restrictions:

Hi Milind,

There is a utility library for parsing KML (not sure about KMZ) in the
Maps API for Flash:

Though you may want to ask at the Maps API for Flash discussion forum
