Problem One

I cannot find out anywhere how to move multiple place-marks from within one folder in "My Places" to another folder, without individually clicking and dragging them one by one. There has to be a more efficient method of selecting and dragging some or all off the contents of one folder to another...

Problem Two

How can I sort items alphabetically in My Places or within a folder in My Places?

I have tried searching the Web for an answer without any success, so would appreciate any help and advice whci hmay assist.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to do either of these pieces of functionality currently w/o playing around with the mplaces.kml file while Google Earth is turned off. Once in there, I think it would be just a matter of moving the placemark entries around to be in the order that you would like them.

I raised same questions many months ago here and in GE Plus Support. On the sorting issue, Barry Hunter came up with a brilliant online tool KML Placemark Sorter
http://www.nearby.org.uk/sort-kml.php

Although obviously not as convenient as an in-built facility (which disappointingly GE still lacks a year or two after the first requests for it), the tool is very easy to use. Even so, recently I tried to go one stage further by using an external program (Macro Express) to try to automate it. I can now highlight an unsorted folder xyz in GE, enter a hotkey, and get back a new folder xyz-sorted.

However, either my macro is still flawed or there's some timing unpredictability it can't handle, because 10% of the time it goes awry!

Thanks to both Tibullus and Terry for your suggestions and workarounds

Its long overdue that the Maestros at Google Earth came up with something to deal with what must be a very common issue: arranging/rearranging multiple placemarks within folders/filing systems.

For what is an enormously sophisticated peice of software, it is a shame that the backoffice part of it, is so very primitive!
