Is it possible to translate a Garmin gbd file to a kmz file? I have the plus version, but have no GPS. I got a gbd-file from a friend. Just curious, is it an easy way to convert between the two format using any special programs...

Mapsource version 4.5 and later can save in GPX, and you can import GPS into GE.

Note though, it seems they don't actually save the routes, only the start and endpoints. perhaps in an attempt to prevent people from bypassing the digital restrictions management on their maps.

But if you just want waypoints, that's quite and painless with GPX.

I created a script to convert Garmin's .IMG files to .KML

Check it out in http://jolcese.googlepages.com

I think you will find GPS Babel does the job (actually it translates to KML, but that is all you need).

Actually, GPSBabel can fluently read GBD(sic) and write KML that can be consumed by Earth.

gdb can be converted by the following URL, too.
