Add color to kml file?

[axolotl hatchlings]

I have created a basic polygon shape and wish it to have it filled
with color and 50% opacity.
Its taken me ages to create and understand polygons now the kml is
baffling me.
How can I fill this shape with color, say for example blue at 50%

You are using a LineString element.
You may want to change the element to a LinearRing element.
Refer to the KML reference.

You can then use the fill element of the PolyStyle to turn on fill.
