KML to Excel export

Hi, I have read a bit here and elsewhere and have found a lot of code snips about taking data from Excel and into Google Earth but have not found anything about taking information out of Google Earth into a spreadsheet or CSV.  I am mostly interested in taking the information assocciated with a shape or line such as its name, length, symbol, and state out.

 

Does anyone know if such a thing is possible and better yet, is there any example anywhere?

Hi.

Did you ever find a way to automatically get data from KML to Excel (or CSV)?

I am looking into doing the same with placemarks and info associated with them and I haven't found anything yet.

I could just open the KML with a text editor and copy the parts I need (lat/lon, description, etc.) but having thousands of placemarks that would be very time-consuming.
