Total KML newb here....

I've been using GPS tracking on a mobile phone to create a KMZ file of
different walking routes which I then upload into Google Earth.
Occasionally due to bad signal some of the GPS waypoints that get
plotted are way off, and I'd like to edit these erroneous waypoints.

Now I'm sure I can edit the KML file manually with notepad or
something, but with the number of routes I have that could be very
tedious. Is there any way to modify the path within Google Earth to
visually "drag" these waypoints into their correct place?

I can drag the pushpins, but I can't seem to modify the actual plotted
route.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Hi sundancekid503,

You should be able to edit anything in Google Earth by choosing the
context menu (right click in Windows) and selecting Properties. Then
you can drag it. This includes paths, though you have to right click
on them in the My Places pane.

You then have to save it out as KML, as it will not change the actual
file you're working on.

ManoM is right for the most part.

You can select all sorts of non-point geometry in the 3D view by
holding down ctrl (or cmd on Mac) while clicking. That doesn't open
the context menu, but you can hold ctrl/cmd while right-clicking too
(or ctrl-cmd-click on a Mac if you don't have a second mouse button!),
which does.

Addition: in the case of lines, you have to click near the a vertex
(one of the points entered in <coordinates>), but not the last one, to
get this ctrl-/cmd-click thing to work. Clicking on the line between
two points won't work unless the segment is shorter than the diameter
of the 'click areas'. I only tested with lines with frequent vertices
before, where clicking anywhere near the line tends to work. Maybe
this is why ManoM didn't suggest it.
