I have a bunch of KML files which sit on a web server that uses basic HTTP authentication to verify access rights to the files. However, the annoying part is that every-time I start Google Earth it prompts me with an empty username and password dialog. I have 8 of these secured KML files that I load each time I open Google Earth, so for the next couple of minutes I'm simply entering usernames and passwords.

Does anyone know if there is a way to:
1. enter the username and password in the "Edit Network Link" area similar to how you do it for an FTP site: ftp://username:pass...@somewebsite.com
or,
2. have Google Earth save the credentials

Have run into same issue and read the same many other places. I've read that earlier versions of Earth allow saving credentials, but not current version. Also, don't know if we'll see a fix from Google as they've announced they're going to drop Earth.
